World Tequila Day, is celebrated every July 24 to honour Mexico’s iconic spirit made from blue agave. Or an excuse to whip up some Sunday Margaritas maybe.

Tequila production traces back to the 16th century, first being distilled in the Jalisco region of Mexico, near the town of – take a guess – Tequila!

The exact origin of the holiday itself is a little unclear, which is what you’d expect after a bottle or two, however today World Tequila Day is a chance to celebrate tequila’s history, craftsmanship, and cultural roots. Obviously.

Seriously though, all respect to the agave farmers who make this special spirit so worthy of celebrating.
