All Day Tequila Drinks to Survive Christmas Day -Responsibly

As with airport travel, one of the highlights of Christmas Day is the broad social acceptance of drinking cocktails in the morning. In fact, if you haven’t at least got a Mimosa in your hand by 10am, is it even Christmas?

So let’s look at a responsible way to enjoy Tequila throughout your Christmas Day, without ending up face down in Granny’s Pavlova.

Before we get into it, keep these two rules in mind:

Rule 1 – Stick to Tequila only, or one spirit as much as possible, don’t mix your drinks.

Rule 2 – Keep a large jug of water with mint and lemon in your line of sight, all day – and key to this rule – actually drink several glasses of water from it.

Now, to brace yourself for the onslaught of guests and all their Christmas questions, a Tequila based Espresso Martini is a fantastic place to start. The best tequila to use for an espresso martini is Reposado, thanks to its oak, vanilla and caramel flavour profile. Añejo would be wasted in this, however it’s Christmas, so go big.

By midday in Australia it’s getting hot, so you’re going to want to move onto a cool Paloma. These are very refreshing and drinkable, so stick with them throughout the core of the day. You can also adjust your soda levels to power up or down, depending on your social proof.

By the evening, you’re stuffed with carbs just like the Turkey, Paloma’d out and it’s the leftovers and chocolate evening session. End your Christmas Day with a TV Bar. This delicious concoction is named after a chocolate bar called the TV Bar and is the perfect end to a day that should not involve any television.

If you’re still awake, Merry Christmas!
