Tequila Espresso Martini

When you need coffee, but with the volume turned up. Fun fact: The original espresso martini was ‘invented’ in 1983 and named a Vodka Espresso. We prefer it with tequila of course.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz reposado tequila
  • 1 oz coffee liqueur (Kahlúa for example)
  • 1 oz freshly brewed espresso (cooled slightly)
  • 1/2 oz agave syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Fill a martini glass with ice water and set aside to chill.
  • In a shaker, combine tequila, coffee liqueur, espresso, and simple syrup.
  • Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. This creates a frothy texture from the espresso which lasts for about ten seconds.
  • Discard the ice water from the martini glass and strain the cocktail into the glass. If there is a little left over in the shaker, hold it over your mouth and pour.
  • Top with a few coffee beans or a light dusting of cinnamon for presentation. Forget coffee art, you’re not a Barista. If you are, then please get in touch and let us know how on earth you would do this.
