The classic of all classics. It’s your cocktail baseline – from here you can have endless fun adding different ingredients, inventing interesting garnish options or adding spice to the rim.
Ingredients
- 2 oz tequila
- 1 oz fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
- 1 oz triple sec (such as Cointreau)
- 1/2 oz agave syrup
- Salt for rimming the glass
- Lime wedge for garnish
Instructions
- Rim your margarita glass with a lime wedge, then salt to coat the rim.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, fresh lime juice, triple sec, and agave syrup. Fill the shaker with ice.
- Shake the mixture vigorously for as long as you feel like it, but about 20 seconds should get it nicely chilled.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
